Hair loss (alopecia) - Hair transplantation
The treatment of hair loss used to be a nearly unsolvable therapeutic problem. Many forms of hair loss with bald spot formation do not respond to treatment with medication. But thanks to state-of-the-art technology, it is now possible to offer these patients hair transplantation which uses the patients’ own hair to remedy baldness formation.
The most common form of hair transplantation is the minigraft and micrograft technique. A micrograft contains one to two hairs with a diameter of 0.7-0.9 mm, while a minigraft contains three to five hairs with a diameter of 1.0-1.12 mm. Up to 2,000 of these transplantations are used per treatment.
In the meantime, this hair transplantation method has become completely established in cosmetic surgery. But even today, it is unfortunately not possible to fulfill all of the patient’s wishes, which is why an in-depth consultation is necessary on the possibilities of treating the individual case of hair loss in question.
