Breast lift (mastopexy)
Heavily sagging breasts, such as after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss or simply as a result of soft connective tissue frequently lead to significant psychological stress. A female breast lift can help here.
We recommend having a preventive gynecological examination with ultrasound and mammography conducted before the planned operation in order to detect potential chances existing prior to the operation, such as lumps or altered glandular tissue and, if necessary, remove them as well. The size of the future breast is discussed with the patient prior to the operation.
OP procedure:
The breasts are measured precisely before the breast lift and the incision lines are sketched on the skin. Only portions of skin according to the sketch and OP planning are removed; the mammary gland is then reformed. We mostly make use of the short scar operations technique: a technique which subsequently leaves only a circular scar on the edge of the areola as well as a vertical scar which runs from the nipple to the lower breast fold; this technique refrains from making an arch-shaped scar in the lower breast fold. In the process, the sagging nipple is returned to its original position. If possible, the central gland body will be retained along with the milk ducts, meaning that the ability to breastfeed will not be impaired. Only portions of the skin mantle are removed in a breast lift. The mammary gland is not reduced in size, but merely reshaped so as to add volume to the upper portion of the breast.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia and is usually accompanied by a short inpatient stay.
Goal of the operation:
- To create a new breast shape, smooth skin and a more youthful appearance
- Sensitivity and ability to breastfeed are retained
- Scars are as few and as fine as possible
- A new and improved body feeling
